SEAT Tarraco PHEV Joins the SUV Range

Added: 18 October 2019

At Heritage SEAT, we’re always excited when a new model comes along. We’re always keen to find out whatever we can about new SEATs coming on the market so that we can better inform our customers and help them to make the right choice for them. When we first heard rumblings that the brand would be bringing a brand-new plug-in hybrid SUV to the 2020 line-up our team started learning everything they could about this exciting development.

Come join us as we get to know the new SEAT Tarraco, the newest member of the SUV range.

The specs at a glance

The Tarraco is named after an archaic pronunciation of the Spanish city of Tarragona where this vehicle was unveiled earlier this year. It will be powered by a 13kWh lithium-ion battery pack, and driven by a 1.4-litre TSI engine alongside a robust 85kW electric motor. Drivers can expect 0-62mph in an astonishing 7.4 seconds and top speeds of 123-130mph. Emissions-conscious buyers will be pleased to know that it also produces less than 50g per km on the WLTP cycle.

It’s what’s outside that counts- Getting to know the dimensions

The Tarraco is 1839mm wide without including the door mirrors, 4735mm in length and 1658mm in height. Its handsome chassis is available in a range of great colours including Dark Camouflage, Oryx White, Reflex Silver, Atlantic Blue, Indium Grey, Titanium Beige, Deep Black and Urano Grey with metallic paint available at no extra cost. There is a choice of two trims- SE and Xcellence.

When all seats are in use the Tarraco boasts an impressive 700 litres of boot space and up to 1775 litres can are available when all the seats folded. All that generous space makes it the perfect choice for active families.

Popping the bonnet

A glance under the bonnet reveals a choice of either two petrol engines and one diesel engine. The smaller 1.5 litre petrol engine offers 148bhp and has a six-speed manual gearbox which sends twist to the front axle. Alternatively, the 2.0 litre counterpart gets 188bhp, with haldex all-wheel drive and seven-speed DSG. Both diesel options are 2.0-litre four-pots, and boost the same bhp as the petrol models.

Is now the time to buy your first electric car?

As more and more competitively priced electric vehicles like the Tarraco (which starts at just £28,550) come to the market, we understand that more and more of our sustainability-conscious customers are considering the possibility of buying either hybrid or electric.

While we appreciate that every customer’s needs are different, there are some distinct advantages to joining the electric revolution. These include;

• Instant torque and responsive performance
• Fewer emissions
• Lower road tax
• Massively reduced fuel costs
• Higher resale value
• The knowledge that you’re voting with your wallet for a more sustainable future.
